Are you passionate about empowering young people to shape peaceful societies? The United Network of Young Peacebuilders (UNOY) is looking for a dynamic Co-Director (Programmes) to join our team in The Hague, starting February 2025.

About UNOY

UNOY Peacebuilders is a global youth-led network, connecting over 120 organizations in 70+ countries. From our international secretariat in The Hague, we work to amplify the voices of young peacebuilders and promote youth-led approaches to creating peaceful societies.

Since the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 2250, we’ve championed the role of youth in peacebuilding. As we progress through our 2021–2025 strategic plan, we remain committed to protecting civic spaces, fostering creative solutions, and resourcing young peacebuilders with the tools they need to thrive.

The Role: Co-Director (Programmes)

As Co-Director, you’ll play a vital role in leading the implementation of UNOY’s programmes, driving advocacy initiatives, overseeing human resources, and co-leading our dynamic network. This full-time position (40 hours per week) is based in The Hague, requiring in-office presence at least 50% of the time.

Your Key Responsibilities

Leadership:

  • Co-lead the organization alongside the Co-Director (Strategy).
  • Supervise team members and facilitate International Secretariat staff meetings.
  • Represent UNOY externally, ensuring alignment with our vision and strategic goals.

Programmes:

  • Oversee global and regional programme implementation.
  • Supervise programme leads, ensuring adherence to gender and protection strategies.

Advocacy:

  • Drive global advocacy efforts, engage with UN agencies and governments, and represent UNOY in relevant fora.
  • Evaluate and enhance advocacy programme outcomes.

Fundraising:

  • Collaborate on identifying and pursuing funding opportunities.
  • Lead programmatic contributions for grant proposals.

Communications:

  • Guide the communications team to amplify UNOY’s impact and visibility.

Human Resources:

  • Develop and implement HR policies, lead recruitment processes, and foster an inclusive working environment.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • A relevant bachelor’s degree (e.g., peace and conflict studies, international relations).
  • At least 3 years of experience in peacebuilding, advocacy, or a related field.
  • Strong project management and fundraising skills.
  • Commitment to decolonizing peacebuilding and fostering inclusion.
  • Excellent English communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Leadership or management experience.
  • Familiarity with intergovernmental organizations (e.g., UN, EU, AU).
  • Multilingual skills (French, Spanish, Arabic preferred).
  • Public speaking and facilitation expertise.
